1What Are Discord Alerts?
Discord alerts let the Albion Player Detector send real-time notifications to your Discord server or direct messages when it detects specified players nearby. This means you can stay aware of activity in Albion even when you are tabbed out, alt-tabbed to another window, or away from your computer. The alerts include player name, guild, detected gear and IP, distance from you, and a timestamp. Combined with the advanced filter system, Discord alerts ensure you only get pinged for the threats or opportunities that matter.
2Enabling Discord Alerts in Settings
To get started, open the Player Detector settings panel and navigate to the Notifications tab. Toggle the Discord Alerts switch to the on position. You will see fields for a Webhook URL, a cooldown timer, and mention settings. Once enabled, the detector will begin sending notifications through the configured Discord integration. The settings panel also shows a connection status indicator so you can confirm the integration is working before you head into a dangerous zone.
3Setting Up a Discord Webhook
The Player Detector uses Discord webhooks to send alerts, which means you do not need a bot token or any coding knowledge. Open your Discord server settings, go to Integrations, and create a new Webhook. Choose the channel where you want alerts to appear, copy the webhook URL, and paste it into the Player Detector settings. You can create multiple webhooks for different channels — for example, one for urgent enemy alerts and another for general proximity notifications. Each webhook can also be assigned a custom name and avatar through Discord.
4Customizing Alert Messages
Alert messages can be fully customized to include the information that matters most to you. The message template editor supports placeholders like {player_name}, {guild}, {ip}, {distance}, {biome}, and {timestamp}. You can build templates such as "Enemy {player_name} ({guild}) spotted {distance}m away with {ip} IP" or use a more compact format for busy channels. Each filter profile can have its own message template, so ZvZ alerts can be formatted differently from gathering alerts. A live preview shows how your message will look before you save it.
5Per-Player Mention Pings
You can configure the detector to mention specific Discord roles or users when certain players are detected. This is done by setting up mention rules in the filter configuration alongside each filter entry. For example, you can set a rule that pings @everyone when a player from a rival guild appears, or only ping a specific role like @Scouts for certain name matches. Mentions use Discord's standard @mention format and work with both roles and individual users. A cooldown timer can be attached to mentions separately to prevent notification fatigue.
6Cooldown Settings to Avoid Spam
Without cooldowns, the detector could send dozens of messages per minute in a populated zone. The cooldown system lets you set a minimum interval between alerts for the same player or group. You can configure a global cooldown that applies to all alerts and per-player cooldowns for high-traffic scenarios. A typical setup might be a 30-second global cooldown with 5-minute per-player cooldowns for persistent enemies. Alerts that fire during a cooldown period are silently suppressed rather than queued, keeping your Discord channel clean and readable.
7Testing the Discord Connection
Before relying on Discord alerts in the field, use the built-in test button in the Notifications settings. This sends a sample alert message to your configured webhook URL, letting you verify the connection, message formatting, and mention pings all work correctly. The test message includes example data so you can see how placeholders render in your template. If the test fails, the settings panel displays a clear error message indicating whether the issue is a bad URL, a network problem, or a permissions error on Discord's side.
8Troubleshooting Common Webhook Issues
If your alerts are not sending, start by checking the webhook URL in your Discord server settings — URLs change if the webhook is deleted or regenerated. Verify that the target channel still exists and that the webhook has not been rate-limited by Discord (webhooks are limited to 30 messages per second per channel). If you use Discord server templates or bots that purge old webhooks, make sure to update the URL in the Player Detector accordingly. The connection status indicator in settings will show a red disconnected state if something is wrong.
